Human Living Library: Dyslexia

“If you're working with someone who has an unseen disability [...] they have lived with it for a long time if not their whole life, so if you want to know how to help them ask them.”

Mike

Dyslexia

Here Mike talks about his life experiences and the impact of prejudice on his life living with dyslexia. Mike explains how he sees his dyslexia as a disability because it has affected the way that he leads his life. He highlights that some dyslexic people can easily think in 3 or 4 dimensions and have excellent problem solving skills.

Dyslexia is a general term for learning difficulties that involve difficulty in learning to read or interpret words, letters, and other symbols, but that do not affect general intelligence.
