“You [have a chance to] look at your privilege, the privilege of not having to live in the space of somebody else - that is huge. It helps you to see and recognise your own privilege.”
Biracial Family
Here Hayley talks about her life experiences and the impact of prejudice on her and her families life as someone from a biracial family. She explains that even though she is white she has been exposed to the life experiences that people of colour can experience through her husband and daughters. She highlights that her second-hand experience as well as the roles that she has worked in have made her want to push for equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) - which is why she is the EDI lead for the university.
Biracial families consist of two individuals from two different races coming together to form a family (with children or without).
