Human Living Library: Addiction

“[Addiction] can affect anybody - no matter male, female, age, race, religion. It doesn't matter who you are addiction and alcoholism doesn't discriminate. ”

Alison

Addiction

Here Alison talks about her life experiences and the impact of prejudice on her life whilst battling addiction and recovering from alcoholism. She highlights that anyone can become addicted to a substance, that substance addiction is not a sign of weakness and that people can overcome addiction with help.

Alcoholism is a term used to describe the most serious form of problem drinking at a level that causes harm to your health. It describes a strong, often uncontrollable, desire to drink. Alcoholism is also known as alcohol addiction, alcohol misuse or alcohol dependence.
