Regardless of which subject you are writing for, there are key points you should consider when referencing. A large part of referencing properly is simply a case of following rules and an uninformed or careless approach can lead to many easy marks being lost in your assignments.
Referencing is an important academic practice for students to master. This workshop will provide opportunity to discuss when to reference, what makes a good reference and what is an appropriate number of references within an academic essay/report.

If you are about to undertake your first assignment or need to understand the feedback on an assignment to try to improve future marks, then this workshop can help you. Students from departments or schools using Harvard or APA will benefit from attending this workshop, where a hands-on approach will be used to demystify referencing and make you wonder why you ever struggled!

Bibliographic software (RefWorks/EndNote)
We recommend you use bibliographic software to keep a database of the sources you reference (books, journal articles, websites etc.) when researching your assignments. We offer training sessions in both of the bibliographic software packages currently supported by the university:
