Have you ever thought of wanting to help fellow students? Do you want to develop your skills and enhance your CV? Becoming a PASS Leader could be a great volunteering opportunity for you! PASS Leader’s use facilitation techniques to lead study sessions that help your fellow students to gain a better understanding of their course, and life at the University of Hull.

Criteria to be a PASS Leader
To be a PASS Leader you will need to:
- Have passed the module you will be facilitating on
- Be reliable and responsible to attend sessions and debriefs
- Be willing to learn and be open to feedback
- Attend the training
- Be patient with other students

Lecture Shout Out
In your lectures, a member of PASS team will give a presentation on PASS. The shout out should answers the following questions:
- What is PASS?
- What is required/not required of a PASS Leader?
- What are the benefits of being a PASS Leader?
- What are the next steps?
Taster Session
The Taster session is a great way for you to see what PASS is like as part of a mock PASS session, led by members of the Skills Team. This covers the key sections of a PASS session; Opening, Agenda Setting, Main Body Activities and Close. The Skills Team will then give you the chance to break down how the mock session was delivered during a debrief, to develop an understanding of all four sections.

PASS Leader Training
Here at Hull, we offer our PASS Leaders two full days of in-depth training to ensure they feel confident and empowered to lead a PASS session alongside fellow Leaders.
The training covers a wide range of facilitation, communication and teamworking techniques and we support your training with resources you can use going forward to develop and plan sessions.
During the training, you get the chance to plan parts of a PASS session and put some of these techniques to the test and
The PASS Leader training is delivered by members of the Skills Team who are certified SI – Supervisors. Training typically takes place at the beginning of Trimester 1, or Trimester 2.
