Referencing your work
You cannot succeed at university if you do not master referencing.
Knowing how to effectively use the work of others to strengthen your own assignments, cite them appropriately for your discipline and correctly format a reference list are essential skills to acquire.
The University of Hull has specific referencing guidelines to help you. Your Student handbook or tutors will be able to advise you which referencing style to use for your course.
Once you are confident doing this manually, you can also consider learning to use referencing software to automate some of the processes involved.
Introduction to Turnitin
Turnitin is an originality checking service. It checks your writing for citation mistakes and inappropriate copying.
Documents uploaded to Turnitin will be matched against files in the repository and an originality report will be created.
