Introduction
Non-Parliamentary publications (or papers) are official publications which are not issued as part of the Parliamentary process. They include some important departmental reports, technical papers, research reports and even evidence to Royal Commissions when the final report has been classified as a Parliamentary Paper. Nowadays, most publications are only available online. However, the University Library holds printed copies of older publications, although our collection is very selective. Those publications we do hold can be traced via Library Search.
Finding non-Parliamentary publications
Here are some sources for non-Parliamentary and departmental publications:
Scroll down to Government activity to access publications by various categories or by publishing department.
- UK Government Web Archive (part of The National Archives)
Preserves UK central government information published on the web from 1996 to date.
- The Daily List (published by TSO)
A list of all official publications issued on the day in question. There is also access to previous Daily lists back to January 2008, and Monthly catalogues from 2011-2018.
The University Library is also currently trialling two resources - Policy Commons and Overton - covering grey literature and which include reports and other publications from government departments and related organisations (please note that these resources are available to University of Hull students and staff only, and access may not be possible after March 2024).
