PGR Supervisor Guide to Supporting the Mental Health and Wellbeing (MHWB) of Postgraduate Researchers: University Wellbeing Activities, Events and Courses for PGRs

Activities and events organised by the Doctoral College Team

Please encourage your PGRs to attend these sessions, they provide opportunities for PGRs to come together, to feel part of a community, to seek help and share concerns, and to help combat isolation.

The Doctoral College has transferred the PGR Experience Programme to online delivery during the pandemic.   In order to improve the support we provide for our PGRs during this time we have responded to their requests:

  • To provide more opportunities to develop their writing practice and output - we have increased the number of Writing Retreats and there is now a daily Writing Group.
  • To arrange a weekly social space of them - the 'Peer-led Coffee, Cake and Chat session'.
  • To provide opportunities to listen to and share their research and to come together as a community of researchers - we introduced the Faculty and Doctoral College initiative the 'PGR Research Culture and Community Seminar Programme'.
