Global Hull Foreign Language Opportunities: Foreign Language Courses

Hello! Bonjour! 你好 (Nĭ hăo)! こんにちは (konnichiwa)! ¡Hola!

Global Hull foreign language courses are designed for beginners in Step 1 (for complete beginners) and Step 2. It’s open to Hull University students, staff and alumni and members of public. There are four thrilling foreign languages to choose from. Woven into each language course are the signature experiences – learning associated with interactive and fun activities delivered by our specialist language tutors.

Courses run with start dates in October (T1) and February (T2). These short courses offer learners the opportunity to study in shorter blocks with a flexible schedule and enable learners to develop knowledge and skills in a new language.

• Each course is 10 weeks long (1.5 hours per week)
• Course start date in October (T1) runs from 1 October to 6 December 2024
• Languages: Chinese (Mandarin), French, Japanese, Spanish
• Taught by specialist language tutors on Hull campus
• Non-credit bearing
• Small group sizes
• Course book syllabus based (Class set of books available in classroom)
• Open to Hull University students, staff and alumni and members of the public
• Student rate:                     £60 (Special Offer)

Staff and Alumni rate:      £90 (Special Offer)

Members of Public rate:   £120 (Special Offer) 

(A similar course offered by other HE institutions would be about £170 or above for all learners)

The focus of beginner courses is to enable learners to                                                                                           

• Develop a range of vocabulary as well as a simple repertoire of grammatical structures and sentence patterns.
• Understand basic target language of a predictable nature within the context of basic, everyday topic.
• Take part in routine exchanges on basic, every day topics.
