Claire Farquharson, Danielle Parker, Sarah Sandford (and Sports Therapy Programme Team), Hartpury University
The Sports Therapy programme integrates sport and exercise science and musculoskeletal therapy, creating a unique challenge in integrating the underpinning theory with the vocational competencies set by the Professional Awarding Body, the Society of Sports Therapists (SST).
The unique structure of our peer to peer learning model promotes collaboration across all levels of study as a holistic approach. This scaffolded approach empowers students to take ownership of their growth and development of key professional skills; leadership, communication and confident decision-making – in real world environments. Through active involvement in campus-wide sports therapy services, students build not only their hands-on technical abilities but cultivates career readiness and fosters a deeper sense of confidence, preparing students to thrive in the sports therapy profession.
This poster examines how students perceive the value of peer-to-peer learning in applied sports therapy practice. It explores how students believe this collaborative approach contributes to their academic development and enhances their future career prospects.
