About this workshop
This master class is designed as an introduction to the knowledge and skills required when working with archival material from the period 1500-1800, and will provide practical experience of transcribing material from this period.
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Identify common Secretary hand characters and abbreviations
- Understand historical date systems
- Understand historical systems of measures
- Find downloadable bibliographic guides for follow-up reading
Who this workshop is for
Suitable for undergraduates and postgraduates (taught or research), who want a chance to develop their ability to read and understand historical writing, dates and systems of measures.
