Skills Advisers can help with study skills such as academic writing, referencing, notetaking, time management, reflective learning and revision/exam techniques.
Our appointments all take place in C16a, Main Building, Scarborough Campus. Please book an appointment to see us.
Appointments are 30 minutes long. We can help you via email, telephone, webinar or Skype.
Advisers provide help for specific academic study queries and will provide advice on how to become more independent in your learning. Our advisers will therefore try to help you with your query and give you advice on what you can do next to improve your academic study skills.
We cannot proofread your work for you but will provide tips and guidance on how to proofread your own work. Proofreading and editing is a skill you need to develop to become an independent learner so repeated requests to review similar work will be discouraged. We want to help you help yourself so please avoid booking repeat appointments out of habit.
We provide core academic study skills advice and if you have a recognised learning difference we can signpost you to other sources of help tailored more specifically to your learning preferences.
If you cannot make an appointment for any reason, please get in touch via skills@hull.ac.uk. If you do not cancel an unwanted appointment then you are denying other students the opportunity to use that time.
