Occasionally eResources will be accessible via non Hull /York Accounts. In these cases see:

Access Information

Different accounts provide access to various electronic resources subscribed to by the specific institution or organisation. These resources can include databases and electronic journals.

Students of HYMS degrees jointly awarded by the two universities are entitled to the accounts detailed below.

HYMS staff are entitled to the following accounts depending on their membership of the different organisations (please contact the Dean’s PA at if you wish to clarify this). NOTE that you do not need a library card to access eResources:

University of Hull account

This is provided automatically to students and to members of staff when they join the University of Hull (see Membership tab above).

University of York account

This account is provided automatically to students and to members of staff when they join the University of York (see Membership tab above).

NHS Athens account

NHS Athens accounts are provided to Physician Associate and MB BS when they join HYMS.

Access to resources may vary depending on your long term placement site. To change your placement site at any time or request a password reminder see Contacts

HYMS staff and postgraduate students can apply for this account via * depending on their affiliation with the local NHS.

* Note that it is much quicker to register for an NHS Athens account from an NHS computer either on a hospital site or in a GP practice (normally passwords will be available to use within an hour). If registering from home or university registration can take up to 2 weeks.

Please note: when searching for a particular resource or subject it is advisable to access via the links provided via the tabs above.

Visitor access

Access in the Library to selected e-resources is also available to visitors at the University of York Library. Information, including a list of resources available can be found at:

Information on accounts and IT services available to different users is available via the  HYMS IT Help Desk. See 1st Year Registration Guide for an explanation of different accounts and how to redirect email.
