Reading List Support Material: Adding Books

The bookmarklet tool

To add items to your reading list you will need to have bookmarklet tool installed. This will appear in your toolbar as or may already be there as

See the Getting Started page for instructions on how to do this and how to get permissions for editing your lists.

Adding a Book to your list

If only available as a paper book:

1. Search for the item on the library catalogue and click on the title of the book

2. Click     from your favourites toolbar

3. Either  which will add the bookmark straight to your list


     OR   simply click on and you can add it to the list at a later date

Adding an eBook to your list

If only available as an eBook:

1. Find the ebook on the library catalogue and click on the title of the ebook

2. Click  from your favourites toolbar

3. Ensure the Online Resource box is ticked

4.  Either  which will add the bookmark straight to your list


     OR   simply click on and you can add it to the list at a later date

Useful tip!

If you don't see the bookmark you've created when you go into your reading list, click on the refresh button from your browser

Adding a Book and eBook to your list

If available as both a paper book and an ebook:

1. Find the ebook on the library catalogue

2. Right click on the link to access the ebook

3. Click on 'copy shortcut' or 'copy link location'

4. Find the print book on the library catalogue and click on the title

5. Click 

6. Add a ‘Web address’ field   and paste in the link copied from the ebook

7. Tick the ‘Online Resource’ box, click ‘Link To’ and choose the web address

8. Either  which will add the bookmark straight to your list


     OR   simply click on and you can add it to the list at a later date
