Different accounts provide access to various electronic resources subscribed to by the specific institution or organisation. These resources can include databases and electronic journals.
Students of HYMS degrees jointly awarded by the two universities are entitled to the accounts detailed below.
HYMS staff are entitled to the following accounts depending on their membership of the different organisations (please contact the Dean’s PA at email@example.com if you wish to clarify this). NOTE that you do not need a library card to access eResources:
This is provided automatically to students and to members of staff when they join the University of Hull (see Membership tab above).
This account is provided automatically to students and to members of staff when they join the University of York (see Membership tab above).
NHS Athens accounts are provided by the Medical School to Physician Associate students when they join HYMS.
3rd year undergraduates automatically get an NHS Athens account, however, 1st/2nd year students can self sign up.
MB BS students can apply directly for an NHS Athens account during Phase I via the NICE Registration site. Access is facilitated by NHS Libraries as part of Phase II induction.
Access to resources may vary depending on your long term placement site. To change your placement site at any time or request a password reminder see Contacts.
HYMS staff and postgraduate students can apply for this account via https://openathens.nice.org.uk/ * depending on their affiliation with the local NHS.
* Note that it is much quicker to register for an NHS Athens account from an NHS computer either on a hospital site or in a GP practice (normally passwords will be available to use within an hour). If registering from home or university registration can take up to 2 weeks.
