Closure of 3rd & 4th Floors - BJL Redevelopment

The redevelopment of the Brynmor Jones Library is an ambitious, multi-million pound project to transform the Library into a modern, flexible, technology-enhanced learning environment meeting the needs of all its users.

The third and fourth floors are currently closed for redevelopment, and the books are now available in a new "Decant Area" on the ground floor of the library. There is a large floor plan as you go through the doors into the decant space showing the layout and where the books are shelved, and library staff will be happy to help users to find the items they are looking for.

Remember, the most popular titles for your subject are still kept in the High Demand Collection on the first floor of the library. There is also an ever increasing collection of ebooks.

With the fourth floor closed, the sixth floor is now designated as silent study. See also our list of alternative study spaces.

The High Demand Collection - Brynmor Jones Library

What is it?

·      One of the key features of the redeveloped Brynmor Jones Library is the High Demand Collection (HDC) which will be housed in the new Reading Room on the first floor of the south wing. This will be one of the first areas created in the redevelopment programme and in order to ensure that the HDC is available to users from Easter 2013, we have started to build the collection on the first floor of the tower block in mid-November.

How do I find out if my books have moved to HDC?

·       Notices and signs will be put in place and the Library catalogue will be updated to reflect the changes.  Library staff will be pleased to assist users to find what they want.

Where can I get further information?

More information about this can be found on the library redevelopment web pages
