Intersite Transfer Service

You can borrow books and other materials from the libraries on both the Hull and Scarborough campuses.

Deliveries run to and from the Brynmor Jones Library and the Keith Donaldson Library on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Up to 3 items can be ordered for each delivery via an online form.

Items requested must have a loan period of 7 days or more, 24 hour loans are unable to be supplied via intersite transer. Items must have a status of AVAILABLE displayed on the library catalogue.

 Please check the library catalogue to ensure these and all other details are correct before making a request. For journal article requests please ask a member of staff.

Summon enables your students to search across the majority of the library’s electronic resources, covering journal articles, electronic books, web resources and newspaper articles from one search box.

Summon is an ideal starting place for students, providing a "Google" type search experience. The library has created online tutorials and a guide to successful searching using Summon.

Inter-Library Loans

The Inter-Library Loans service enables you to obtain items that we do not have in our own stock of books, periodicals and electronic resources; most requests are made through the British Library.

Annual quota for requests funded centrally (subject to budget availability):
Undergraduate and Taught postgraduate students – 3 requests
Research postgraduate students – 12 requests
Academic staff – 12 requests

Additional requests are charged based on national tariffs. However, consideration will be given if more requests are required. 

The charges are:
Secure electronic delivery (SED) documents -  £8.50
Photocopies  - £9.50
Loans   -   £13.00

The Library has created a copyright guide, which covers the current legislation for Higher Education regarding the photocopying and scanning materials, using images and digitisation.
