The University Library aims to be at the heart of the success of the University.
We provide access to extensive print and digital library collections. These include over one million printed items contained in our libraries on the Hull and Scarborough campuses, and access to over 200,000 electronic journals, books, data sets and other collections of electronic texts.
Our archival collections, based at the Hull History Centre, provide rich sources for research and teaching in areas such as local and regional history, modern politics, labour history, human rights, maritime history and modern literature.
Our commitment to enabling students and staff to develop the skills needed to make the most of the resources and tools available to them extends to a wide range of support, guidance and training in areas such as information literacy and study skills.
When searching the library catalogue you will see a button at the top of the screen that says ‘Request item.’ Click on this link and fill in your details. When the item is collected/returned it will be placed on the ‘Reserved Items’ shelf in the Reading Room, filed under your surname/family name. When you receive the email to say your item is ready to collect just go along to the Reading Room, find your item then issue it using the self-service terminal.
Please note items are kept on the reserved items shelf for three day (seven days for part-time students)
Do you need to use a book, chapter, journal article or dissertation/thesis that the library does not have in stock? Use out Inter Library Loan service and we will try to borrow it for you from another library
